Politicians Urge to Stop Playing with the Nation’s Education

Mr. Godwin M.K. Sadzi, Chairman for the Hohoe Municipal Conference of Heads of Basic Schools (COHBS) in the Volta Region of Ghana has urged the various party politicians in the country to stop playing with the nation’s education to save the nation’s education from collapsing.
He made this request in an interview with the Educational News on Wednesday at Akyawkrom in the Ejisu Juaben Municipality when he led members of the Hohoe COHBS embarked on a three day educational trip to the Ashanti Region.
He explained that politicians in the country should be blamed for the crisis and challenges schools in the country, particularly the basic schools were facing since they had been playing politics with the management of the basic schools.
Mr. Sadzi, observed that politicians had been interfering in the running of basic schools in the country since independence and it had not yielded the nation any good.
He stated that it was time for government to stop paying lip services to the development of education rather government should focus on performing it core duties in relation to provision of education.
He reminded the authorities of Ghana Education Service (GES) to be ready to provide the needed teaching and Learning Materials (TLMS) earl next academic year to avoid shortage of such materials as it happened last academic year which forced some teachers to use part of their Salaries to buy TLMS like chalk, Teachers Lesson Note Books, Registers and terminal report cards to enhance teaching and learning process in their schools in the Hohoe Municipality.
Mr. Sadzi, indicated that the trip forms part of the Hohoe Municipal COHBS annual activity and during such trips they used the occasion to honour dedicated and hardworking members of the association. Five members who had retired from GES were awarded.

During the three days trip they visited Barekese Dam, Manhya Museum, Culture Centre and GNAT Village at Abankro near Ejisu
